What's new - eHarmony & Match.com

Earlier this week, I was approached by someone looking for profile advice who is not on Ashley Madison! My first thought was - you know what I do, right? After he assured me he did, he asked if I could offer some advice on his Match.com dating profile. He'd also mentioned he'd tried eHarmony in the past.

I used Tinder before I started on AM four years ago, but other than that, I'd never looked at another dating app.

Because of their commercials, I was always curious about eHarmony, so I went there first and made a man's profile.

Signing up started with a 20-minute questionnaire as part of their registration process that asked a series of personality-based evaluation questions. Some were textual, and others were visual. They would show you two pictures side-by-side, like a squiggly line and a straight line, and you were to pick the one you liked more.

Once done, they gave you a rundown of your personality type and then used that to match you people. Scores were based on 140 points, and the site said anyone over 110 was an outstanding potential match, but they showed matches with scores of 90 and up. In all I spent about two hours looking around.

What was weirdest - women were reaching out to me! I never expected that, but in the first three days, I had five local women interact with my profile. Of course, I wrote a good profile and picked a nice stock photo, but I could do that on AM and get nothing! If they message, you get one response before you have to join, and they won't let you put offsite contact info in the message - I'd told one lady I was a matchmaker looking to chat with someone and this is what I got -

What was not great - The cost. You can buy 6-12-24 month packages that you can pay by the month. If you cancel, you're still on the hook for the full amount of the period you chose. Unlike AM, where men can pay and buy pay-as-you-go credits, their packages were $395 for the six-month one and up from there. They offered me a 35% discount to sign up though, so waiting a few days will save you some $$$.

Match.com

Signing up for Match was a little less involved, and I used a woman's profile this time. The potential client had sent me the text of his profile, but I wanted to see what it looked like in the app. The platform was less structured than eHarmony, and easier to navigate. The men's profiles were generally as pathetic as they are on AM, as was their messaging game. I'm not sure what men pay, but I need to by a package in order to see all of my messages and potential matches.

What I learned

Because I avoid sex-based handles and don't mention sex in my profile write-up, my approach to profiles on AM will work on those two apps. With some slight mods about how and where the information is entered, the good news is I can offer my services to the non-deviants out there! And from what I saw, they need it.

What's this mean?

I can expand my new agency's work to all those helpless and hapless men who aren't getting any traction on mainstream dating sites.

NEW - Voice chat with clients

Maddierose tested a chat with a client this week and it went well! They talked about AM, what women expect, and she answered his questi,ons too!

He is in LA and Maddierose is in the UK so she had a late night, but she told me she's good for it!

We're using Burner - an app that works like a burner phone, allowing you to burn the number whenever you want. It's available in the App Store.

I'm thinking of adding a half-an-hour call with Maddierose as part of my Tier 1 package to help clients orient on our service and AM.

Mona also said she'd be willing to give it a whorl.
